Unconventional in the actual world of Formual 1 Red Bull Racing has chosen to overlook Yuki Tsunoda to be given a position within the senior team even though the driver was quite impressive in 2023. The decision however, signals no roadblock for Tsunoda as Redbull and Honda remain fully behind the young racer .
Tsunoda has been a part of the formula one racing since 2021 at 20 years old and has attracted the attention of many due to his speed and aggressive behaviour. Tsunoda who used to be a very loud mouth through the radio was fast yet slightly erratic and seen as hardcore. However, it was something that more thoughtful individuals saw through given his knack for producing remarkable work, even with his choice of words being coarse.
When Tsunoda started racing Red Bull gave some truly inconsistent results… Lapses were married with moments of sheer brilliance, which could be expected of an inexperienced driver in what could at times be a ruthlessly unforgiving world of F1 racing. However, the team, as well as Honda sponsors, remained supportive of Tsunoda knowing that it is way more comfortable to keep a quick driver under control than to constantly try to turn a middle of the pack racer into a quick one.
In his formative years, Tsunoda was making his strides, and as he grew this signaled the maturing of his driving force. By 2023, he transitioned from an unkempt character within a year, with the pedigree of a well-mannered and cultured racer. Veteran driver Alex Albon was demoted to the B-team sister car making him an uncompetitive car, Tsunoda managed to give his best season of his young career to justify outgoing team boss Franz Tost saying that it takes a young driver three years to get used to F1. His racing finishes were points, very consistent point finishes and nice racecraft that was enough to argue his case and plea to stay in the Red bull driver junior team program.

Still, this growth and the apparent opportunities were seen by Red Bull Racing as a possibility to ignore Tsunoda for a place in the upper tier team of the Formula One Series, which led to many fans and analysts confused. The decision have been received with mixed opinions in the midst of F1 fans, with many wondering if the team is left out of a potential talent.
But the tale doesn’t end there. Red Bull’s rejection of Tsunoda for a senior seat does not mean that the company does not think highly of the young racer. Rather of rushing his development, the club is making sure he keeps honing his craft and gaining self-assurance. AlphaTauri, Red Bull’s junior team, will continue to be his training ground.
Honda, Tsunoda’s longtime supporters, continues to provide strong support. Honda continues to offer moral and technical support since it has a stake in the success of its protégés. Their dedication to Tsunoda demonstrates their faith in his ability to get to the top of the racing world.
Even so, Tsunoda is still upbeat and driven. In a recent interview, he stated, “I know I can achieve even more. I’ve learned so much over the past three seasons.” “Red Bull and Honda have given me incredible support, and I’m focused on delivering even better results in the future.”
With the 2024 season approaching, all eyes will be on Tsunoda to keep up his impressive run. Though it may hurt now, Red Bull Racing’s rejection seems to have a bright future ahead of it. Tsunoda is well-positioned to keep improving and possibly win a top seat in the future with the support of his team and Honda.
For now, the F1 community watches with bated breath, eager to see how Tsunoda will rise to the challenge. In the high-stakes world of Formula 1, the journey of a young driver like Tsunoda serves as a reminder that the path to success is often winding, but perseverance and support can lead to extraordinary achievements.
