In the days leading up to the highly anticipated release of “A Quiet Place: Day One” Lupita Nyong’o finds herself getting involved in discussions not only about humanity’s ability to fend of alien creatures but the view on a certain furry companion Frodo the cat.
Twitter has been flooded with anticipative suspense regarding the risks Frodo has to go through in the horror thriller with Sam, Nyong’o’s on-screen character, and her new companion named Eric played by Joseph Quinn. Cinema goers; including critic Matt Bullions have resorted to using social media, specifically Twitter, seeking answers. “Can someone tell me it loud and clear if the cat lives,” Bullions said on the social network. “If not, I am literally cancelling my tickets”,
Nyong’o, who took her actual cat called Yoyo home after shooting, shares in the concern, though she thinks people’s passion is rather amusing. “But me?” “I get it,” she chuckles. “If anything happened to my cat, I’d die,” I said to her one day, “What I can’t understand is how people could be more interested in the cat than us? That becoming a trial for my ego.
Nevertheless, even when joking about Frodo’s destiny, Nyong’o has rediscovered a philosophical meaning in the latest picture. The actress, who recently mourned the loss of her dear friend and colleague Chadwick Boseman, has revealed that “A Quiet Place: Indeed, “Day One” filled a need during a time that could have been quite lonely.

“Surprisingly, in the middle of everything, to work on this film was kind of my cocoon for me”, Nyong’o said during an interview. For me it was mustering a lot of concentration and putting a lot of energy into the Emotional part which assisted me in a positive directing of the brain’s thinking process and the heart’s feeling processes.
The original “A Quiet Place,” directed by John Krasinski, captivated audiences in 2018 with its unique premise of a world where silence is survival. Its sequel promises to delve deeper into the post-apocalyptic landscape where every sound could mean death. For Nyong’o, stepping into this world meant embracing not only the physical demands of the role but also its emotional nuances.
“When you’re faced with challenges as extreme as those in ‘A Quiet Place,’ it really puts things into perspective,” Nyong’o said. “It forces you to confront fears and vulnerabilities, both on screen and in real life.”
Nyong’o finds great resonance in the actress’s portrayal of Sam, a character juggling both daily threats from an alien invasion and personal grief. Nyong’o admits that the film’s themes of family and resiliency resonate deeply with her as she continues to deal with Boseman’s passing.
Nyong’o said, “I think Chadwick would appreciate the spirit of this film.” It’s about perseverance in the face of difficulty and finding hope in the middle of chaos. I currently hold such messages very dear to my heart.”

As audiences gear up to experience the suspense and emotional intensity of “A Quiet Place: Day One,” Nyong’o hopes viewers will find solace and inspiration in the film’s narrative, much like she did.
“I hope people walk away feeling moved and maybe even a little changed,” Nyong’o mused. “These stories remind us of the power of human connection and resilience – themes that are so important, especially in challenging times.”
With the film’s release just around the corner, Nyong’o looks forward to audiences joining her in this immersive journey, where silence speaks volumes and survival means more than just staying alive.
“Ultimately, ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ is a testament to the strength of the human spirit,” Nyong’o concluded. “I hope it resonates with audiences as much as it has with me.”
As the world waits to uncover the fate of Frodo, and indeed of humanity, in “A Quiet Place: Day One,” Nyong’o’s journey both on screen and off serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring power of storytelling in times of uncertainty.
