His attempt to retain the community’s support and continue his climb back was dampened as the outcome of his fight against Chris Weidman cannot be changed anymore since an appeal was made and rejected. The New Jersey State Athletic Control Board NJSACB gave its last judgement which formally put an end to the heated and much publicized match up that happened at UFC Atlantic City.
Later in the day on Sunday, Silva’s manager, Bernardo Serale, informed MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz about the unfavorable outcome of the appeal before the commission. They had intended to get the decision in the fight altered because the team had been given multiple eye pokes which they felt influenced the result.
Due to the contender’s insistence that the fight should have been stopped on knees, Weidman won the fight by TKO that started on the feet when Silva was dazed and then assaulted by the contender. But there was no doubt about it that replays showed that Silva had fell due to two eye pokes inflicted by Weidman. Such fouls prompted Silva to turn round and fall down in the middle of the pitch with injury but initially, referee Gary Copeland did not deem the fouls worthy of his attention until when they had inflicted pain on their victim.

The decision to grant the application by the commission was greatly disapproved by Serale, he said, “We are extremely disappointed with the commission’s decision.” The eye pokes wereowel intentions and should have been reason for the No-contest Since the fouls landed, Bruno could not defend himself properly hence the TKO This is not only about the loss, but also about justice and fair play.
Appeal process was quite a technical one which entailed thorough going through of fight scenes and testimonies. The fight was competitive and Silva’s team stated that eye pokes could be dangerous enough to warrant a no-contest ruling, thereby erasing the loss from the record. They argued that the referee’s inability to signal the fouls during the time of incidents denied the fight an optimum level of equity.
However, as supportive as these arguments are to the complainants’ prayers for a dismissal, the NJSACB remains unwavering in its stand. While admitting the acts of foul, the board stated that the fight was a fight, and the result of the fight would be the result. The decision therefore implies that Silva’s record will stay in the TKO loss which was a big blow to the Brazilian fighter intending to advance into the elite in the highly contested middleweight division.
After rewatching the Weidman x (Bruno) Silva fight I for one am shocked at how Chris Weidman could have possibly eye poked Bruno Silva 4 times – it’s just such an unlikely thing to have happened.

And the decision of the appeal of the decision has not received comments from Chris Weidman, who used to be the UFC middleweight champion. Another fighter saw a possible hope for his own coming back in his victory at the UFC Atlantic City. The ctorious win has remained a subject of discussion among fans and pundits, due to the lead up and aftermath of the fight, Lomachenko vs. Sosa Showdown several of them having suggested that there is need for more vigilance and better rules about the prohibited fouls in the ring.
It is equally tragic for Silva, who sees the denied appeal not only as a confirmation of his unfavorable situation but also as a reminder that ‘sport’ is never predictable. “Yeah, sure but this time, Bruno will bounce back stronger,” Serale stated. “He is a warrior, and this is only going to make him more motivated We appreciate the fans of his performances and are already thinking about the next victory. ”
MMA still closely monitors such situations, and most MMA members want the MMA to make improvements so that similar circumstances will be managed better in the future. This reflects the often observed problem of implementing correct decisions in a game which is highly volatile and depends on milliseconds.
After that fight with Almeida, Silva has to seriously reflect on what to do next and the scary event of UFC Atlantic City is looming. However, this new set back does not seem to dampen the spirit or hinder the determination of Silva amid all the odds and a rigorous team coach behind him.
