In the fast-paced world of Formula 1, the team formerly known as Sauber, now rebranded as Stake F1 Team for the upcoming 2024 and 2025 seasons, has embarked on a transformative journey that has garnered mixed reactions from fans. The decision to shift from the familiar Alfa Romeo branding to Stake F1 left many followers puzzled and discontented, creating a unique challenge for the team as they prepare for their upcoming seasons and the impending Audi takeover. The pressure to win hearts before even hitting the track has led the team representative, Alessandro Alunni Bravi, to articulate their strategic vision in a bid to appease the disheartened fanbase.
Strategic Vision: Fortifying Foundations for Future Success
In a recent feature on the official Formula 1 website, Bravi shed light on the team’s comprehensive approach to fortify its foundations, emphasizing a commitment to core processes that lay the groundwork for future success. The ultimate objective is to enhance on-track performance and create a robust framework for the impending Audi takeover.
“Investing in our production side has been pivotal, bringing the production of carbon parts in-house to reduce dependency on external suppliers,” disclosed Bravi. The team has introduced a night shift in the carbon department to augment capacity, ensuring the development and implementation of high-level aero upgrades. The reduction in time to market for carbon parts by 30%, with a target of 50% reduction in the future, signifies a substantial commitment to efficiency and innovation.
Transparency and Fan Engagement: The Two-Year Plan
The Stake F1 Team’s representative is keen on showcasing these initiatives to fans, placing transparency at the forefront of their two-year plan. The strategic investments in production, design, and technology underscore the team’s dedication to building a competitive edge while maintaining fan engagement.
Bravi also revealed that the team’s endeavors date back to 2023, emphasizing consistent efforts and upgrades even during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Despite a challenging 9th position in the constructor’s championship, Sauber, now Stake F1, has been quietly laying the groundwork for a triumphant resurgence when it transforms into Audi in 2026.
“We have made a lot of steps back at the factory,” stated Bravi. “We have been able to develop the car constantly during the season. Proof of this is that we brought an important upgrade – a front wing – to the last race in Abu Dhabi. We brought five different specs of the floor in 2023, reducing the time to market from design to delivery on the track.”
The Stake F1 Team’s proactive approach and strategic investments, fueled by the substantial sponsorship from Stake, aim to overturn the initial fan skepticism. The utilization of millions in investments reflects a commitment to excellence, with the hope that these foundational efforts will yield significant results before Audi takes the reins in the future.
