Earlier this month, fans were thrilled by the trailer release of “The Killer’s Game,” an action-packed film featuring wrestling icons Batista and Drew McIntyre. As anticipation builds for its September release, McIntyre’s journey to landing a key role in the movie has caught many by surprise. In a candid interview with Gerry Rushe from Irish Wrestling and Entertainment, McIntyre shared the intriguing story behind his casting.
Intense action and suspenseful drama are expected in “The Killer’s Game,” where Batista plays an experienced assassin who is being pursued by his colleagues. McIntyre is one of these peers, and his character gives the plot a powerful presence. A highlight of the movie that will appeal to fans of both wrestling and movies is expected to be the confrontation between the two wrestlers who have turned actors.
An unexpected phone call marked the beginning of McIntyre’s journey to Hollywood. “My phone rang while I was in the middle of my regular training routine,” McIntyre recounted. It was Batista, which surprised me. Although we’ve always gotten along well, this was different. He stated he had a part in mind for me and began to talk about a movie project he was working on.”
As someone who has mostly been recognized for his wrestling prowess, McIntyre has never seen this opportunity before. Still, Batista perceived something in McIntyre that was ideal for the part. “Dave [Batista] informed me he was looking for someone who could give the role more realism and a particular level of passion. My in-ring character and our common experiences in wrestling made him think of me, McIntyre said.

Taking on a role in “The Killer’s Game” was not without its challenges. McIntyre had to adapt to the demands of acting while maintaining his wrestling career. “It was a tough balancing act,” he admitted. “Filming schedules are grueling, and then I had to stay in peak physical condition for my wrestling matches. But I thrive on challenges, and this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”
Batista’s assistance facilitated McIntyre’s adjustment to the acting world. Dave assisted me all along the way as a mentor. He offered me advice on everything, including how to grasp the subtleties of my character and how to get good grades,” McIntyre remarked. “He made sure I felt comfortable on set, which helped me deliver my best performance.”
John Moore, the director of the picture, commended McIntyre for her dedication and innate skill. “Drew gave the part a special vitality. He had a physicality and passion to him that was ideal for the character because of his experience in wrestling. Moore said, “He put a lot of effort into honing his acting abilities, and it comes through on screen.
Fans are looking forward to Batista and McIntyre’s on-screen confrontation as September draws near. “The Killer’s Game” promises action packed scenes while showcasing the actors’ flexibility. McIntyre says the event has changed him. “This job has given me access to a whole new universe. I’m eager to see where it goes since it’s given me a taste of acting,” he said.
Drew McIntyre’s surprising path from the wrestling ring to the big screen is a testament to grasping opportunities and accepting new challenges, especially with “The Killer’s Game” poised to enter theaters. His partnership with Batista promises an exciting movie that audiences won’t want to miss, highlighting the dynamic potential of wrestlers breaking into the general entertainment industry.
